Item: Standing female figure with elongated breasts and extended stomach
Dimensions: 52" Height
Medium/Media: Wood, stain, pigment

Item Description: A 4'4" tall standing female with a jutting chin, long arms, and fore-shortened legs. The figure has elongated breasts and a noticeably extended stomach, probably representative of a pregnancy. Although not immediately noticeable, a close inspection reveals the addition of male genitalia, as well. The sculpture is polychrome, with round painted ornamentations.

Cultural Profile: The Senufo are an agrarian people who live in northern Côte d'Ivoire, and across the border in Burkina Faso. It is believed they migrated from the North and re-settled near bodies of water.
