Cultural Profile: Owo
is a town located between Ile-Ife and Benin. The craftsmen
of the area excelled in ivory carving of lidded vessels,
bracelets, divination tapers, and kneeling figures among
other things. These bone sculptures are reminiscent of traditional
ivory sculptures from Owo.
